Did you know that the very rare and expensive seasoning, saffron, comes from a variety of crocus?
But not this kind.

Today my parents were perusing our garden and discovered that, among all the little stems we've got starting, we have three healthy crocus blooms - the first flowers of the season! Very special indeed.
